Pallet Backstops

KEEP INVENTORY IN PLACE WITH BACK OF RACK PROTECTION

Description

An easy, cost-effective way to prevent inventory from being loaded too far back or falling from the rear of your pallet racking is to install pallet stops. Also called load stops, these cleverly designed pallet rack accessories perform a critical function in securing your warehouse safety goals. Additionally, customers use pallet stops to ensure that the flue space behind or between racking systems remains open and in compliance with fire safety regulations.

Load stop protection can come in several forms. Depending on your storage system and inventory configuration, the Apex team will help you find the product that fits your needs.

Load Stop Protection for Standard Pallet Rack Systems

  • Backstop beams
  • Flue space protectors
  • Wire backstops
  • Rack straps
  • Netting
  • Steel panels

It only takes a few seconds for catastrophe to strike, but preventative measures can save the day. The type of back of rack protection that is right for your operation is predicated on several variables. The Apex team has guided clients for decades to the warehouse solutions that best meet their needs.

The most common back of rack protection products are:

Backstop beams are full-length beams bolted between pallet rack uprights and positioned about 6” – 12” above the shelf beam. Backstop beams are designed for a flush mount to sit even with the rear beam, or they can have a slight offset (approx. 3”) if the bay is designed for rear pallet overhang.

Flue guards mount to the rear beam. They are durable steel stops and can be single-sided or double-sided to mount between back-to-back rack systems. Flue protectors are approximately 6” wide but dimensions and offset size will vary by manufacturer.

Wire backstops mount to the rear of the pallet bay to prevent hand-stacked inventory from falling off the back of the rack shelf. Wire backstops can be hung from the bay above and secured at the base to form a sturdy stop. Partial dividers are also available that clip-on only at the bottom and rise to shield only a rear opening portion.

Rack straps are polyester and elastic webbing that mount easily to pallet racking with metal connectors. The straps allow for approximately 6” of pallet overhang.

Safety netting offers broader protection across multiple bays and levels. It can be mounted anywhere on the racking system to prevent falling items. Safety netting is manufactured from durable polypropylene or nylon.

Wire mesh containment panels are modular-sized panels made from steel-welded wire mesh. They can be single or double-wide widths and mounted either flush or offset.
